While it is difficult to recreate the feel of a true Irish pub without Irish staff, this is our mission. No Irish pub is complete without the friendly warmth, and exceptional service from dedicated staff like ours.
Laura Sharpe's love of cooking began as a child, spending time with her grandfather in his kitchen. "He was a really great cook and he took the time to get me involved," she says. Matt’s love for all things ‘pub’ began at Langley’s own Artful Dodger where he worked about a dozen year’s ago for both their beer & wine store and kitchen. When the infamous Boo Pub in Coquitlam lost a bartender under mysterious circumstances, Matt jumped at the chance to fill his position at this 600-seat B.C. landmark. On the sad day that the “Boo” closed its doors after 40 years of legendary debauchery and tens of thousands of kegs of Strohs beer, Matt talked his way into a position behind the bar at one of Vancouver’s top restaurants, Diva at the Met at the Metropolitan Hotel. For two years while he completed his Hotel & Restaurant Management Diploma at Vancouver Community College, he shook Brandy Alexanders and layered Pousse Cafes for Vancouver’s ‘elite’ and distinguished visitors to the city. The realization that he could spend even more time living off student loans inspired him to transfer from VCC to complete his business degree at the University of Victoria majoring in Hospitality Management. During his two years on Vancouver Island, Matt complemented the island life with resort living at one of North America’s best, The Aerie Resort and Spa, high on the Malahat. Upon graduation, the once mighty American dollar lured him to downtown Philadelphia and its Four Season’s Hotel. Scared by tumbling towers and the downward dollar, Matt soon returned to the refuge of the spectacular Aerie Resort as its Front Office Manager. Lured by a lady and the bright lights of the big Vancouver city, he returned to the Metropolitan Hotel not as its bartender but as its Rooms Division Manager. He came to his senses in September 2006 and realized that the bar is where he felt most at home. He jumped at the chance to open the Dublin Crossing Pub and by the smile on his face; you can tell he could not be happier with his decision.
