The hugely popular Dublin Crossing Irish Pub and I share the same birthday date of January 16.
The pub was one year old, but as I pointed out to General Manager, Matt Brear, the Dublin Crossing has a long way to go to catch up to me. Of course, that was where I celebrated my birthday.
DAMIAN BRENNAN and his band Murphy’s Lagh
It was nice to see Damian Brennan again, the Belfast-born leader of Murphy’s Lagh. Damian and hot fiddle player Sara Fitzpatrick have just released their first CD, entitled Dear Irish Boy.
The Dublin Crossing has been an instant success from day one but they haven’t just hung up a sign announcing that they are an Irish pub. Instead, they have followed through on that theme and showcase some of the best Celtic musical acts in the Fraser Valley.
Testament to that fact is that on the weekends if you are not there by 5:30 PM, not only will you not get a seat, you will be part of an eager lineup to get in.
When any business is a success, it looks easy to the outsider. But any successful operation requires a lot of thought, planning and foresight to ensure its success.
A lot of credit for the success of the Dublin Crossing goes to owner Jim MacIntyre, a native of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. MacIntyre has a Scottish and Irish background and has been in the hospitality business for many years. For the past 10 years, he has been looking for the opportunity to open an Irish pub.
AT DUBLIN CROSSING PUB: (L-R) [FRONT] Jose DeObviously Jim searched out the best area to open such an establishment, because as they say location, location, location.....is everything. McIntyre followed his dream to the end of the rainbow and has found his pot of gold in the Dublin Crossing Irish Pub.
Thanks to Matt Brear and staff at the Dublin Crossing Irish Pub for a great evening and a great birthday.
Let’s do it again next year!
